We all know that Sherri Shepherd has made her presence known on “The View”. Some think it’s good, others think it’s embarrassing, but frankly I think she’s actually showing some signs of improvement. Yeah, I said it! The truth is that the talk show format may not be her best look—actually she’s a better actress. Shepherd can hang with Tracy Morgan in her recurring role as his wife on “30 Rock”. She is also part of the critically-acclaimed Sundance darling “Precious” (aka “Push”)—which is currently in a high-powered distribution battle to make it to a screen near you. Now Shepherd has inked a deal of her own for a sitcom which is set to appear on Lifetime.
Lest we forget, most of us became familiar with Shepherd when she was on the comedy “Less Than Perfect” (with that crazy guy Andy Dick) a few years back. Instead of a sidekick, however, the comedienne would be the main attraction. The Hollywood Reporter says the show is loosely based on some of Shepherd’s own life experiences. Here’s the premise: Her husband cheats and has a child out of wedlock. Then the other woman and child move in with them. Say what? Hilarious isn’t the first thing that comes to my mind but hey, you never know.
In any event, if Lifetime picks up Shepherd’s pilot the sister will be pulling double-duty. In other words, she is NOT leaving “The View” (and least that’s what they’re saying). Comparisons to Kelly Ripa abound. Now that is funny.
