Okay, this could be really fabulous news (or really scary news) depending on how you look at it. The Oprah Winfrey Show has booked an exclusive interview for their return on September 14th, Whitney Houston. It has been seven years since Houston has done an interview and I really, truly hope that she’s ready to chat on the couch with Oprah for an hour. All I can say is that visions of that Diane Sawyer interview probably still haunt us all.
Winfrey’s big ‘get’ definitely trumps what Tyra Banks will do for her return. When her eponymous show returns on September 8th, the model turned mogul will be rocking her real hair (sans weave or wigs) on what she’s calling “National Real Hair Day”. Not sure if this is a one day ‘event’ or something she’s doing for the entire season. But it’s a good gimmick nonetheless. It’s just that Whitney is just so much better (mostly, because we don’t know what we’ll get).
Even if Whitney has really got it all together she should prepare herself for some tough questions from Oprah. Somehow, I doubt that the talk show Queen would agree not to ask about what can only be described as Whitney’s ‘lost years’ and her battle with drugs. Hopefully, she’ll be candid and show that she’s ready to move forward with her life. Then we could really call it a comeback. (And perhaps erase the images of her on “Being Bobby Brown” forever from our minds.)
