Nicole’s Surprise Return Shakes Up “The Biggest Loser”

biggest-loser-recap-week-13

As you already know, I stopped posting “Biggest Loser” recaps once the black girls got the boot from the show. But I never stopped watching the show (because it motivates this particular sister to go to the gym). It’s a good thing too because this episode was basically “The Nicole Show.” Yes, the same Nicole who got me to commit to this particular reality TV show in the first place.  Just to bring you up to speed: I was quite annoyed when she was sent home after week one—when each team had to sacrifice a member. We saw small glimpses of her for two weeks after that while her fiancé Damien was still on the ranch. Then he was thrown under the bus with an unexpected betrayal and the game was officially on (with loyalties changing weekly ever since).

I knew something was up when I watched the DVR’d episode last week that ended with a teaser about a return. I knew that there was a good chance someone I was rooting for might be among them. Estelle,  David and Nicole were the surprise. Once the contestants got a look at our girl’s new body (those abs!) let’s just say jaws dropped. Then she got on the scale and racked up she 87 pound weight loss (32.34 %) people were shook—especially Tara (because Nicole had the second highest percentage of weight loss on campus after her).

Tara couldn’t stop talking about Nicole (neither could anyone else) and almost all of the contestants were trying to get into her head.  It was making me crazy so I can only imagine how Nicole felt. But all this chatter and the stress of both being back at the ranch and having to engage in mind games had a negative impact on her in the end.

At the weigh-in jaws dropped again when Nicole gain 5 lbs and lost her immunity. Damn! DAMN! DAMN! And of course folks showed what they were really feeling at the elimination. Filipe, Sione and Helen wanted Nicole to stay but Ron (who was hospitalized this week) won over the four other contestants (he’s had them in his back pocket from jump).

I’ve got to say that although the sister was only back for one episode she made an impact and walked away with her head held him and pride in her accomplishments. Plus, I like the way the cameras followed her back to Brooklyn and then off to try on wedding dresses before going to the gym. (Plus good cameos by  her buddies Victoria and Cimon to boot). But the best part is to see that our girl didn’t let that week on the ranch derail her: she’s down (as of this episode) 105 lbs. I guess we’ll have to tune into the finale to see how big her final number is.

Bottom line: “The Nicole Show” is damn good television!
