I don’t know if Michael Jackson is delusional or he is some sort of secret con artist. We already know that he left his poor (yes, literally) brothers high and dry when he nixed being a part of a reunion tour. Now comes the news that Michael is being sued by Sheik Abdulla Al-Khalifa for about $7 million. Remember when Michael fled to Bahrain after his child abuse trial? Al-Khalifa, the second son of the king of Bahrain, offered to help him out. Turns out that it was Jermaine who introduced the two. (Poor Jermaine will probably get blamed for this debacle too).
According to the UK paper The Mirror, the Sheik paid Jackson’s outstanding legal bills, paid to have a recording studio built at The Neverland Ranch (that Michael actually never returned to) and subsidized his living arrangements which included paying for gifts. It is alleged that Michael took everything that was offered in exchange he was to record an album, write an autobiography and a stage show. To no one’s surprise (but perhaps the Sheik’s) Jackson did none of it. I do remember him making noises about recording when he first moved to Bahrain though. I guess when he wore out his welcome he got someone else to subsidize his current lifestyle in Las Vegas (probably with a promise of a show). All he has to do is cry cash poor and some other poor sucker is on the line. What a way to further muddy a legacy. Now, comes the report that Jackson is too fragile to come to court to testify. Isn’t that convenient?
Anyway, Jackson believes that everything he received from Al-Khalifa was a gift. He is the King of Pop, is he not? So why shouldn’t other Royals pay to be in his presence? I am sure it all makes sense in Michael’s head—you know where he is considered to be the most important recording artist in the world. It just saddens the rest of us who happen to live in the real world.
So here’s Michael in his better days with “Bad”
