Kwamegate Continues: Christine Do You Have A Plan Yet?

It’s official, Kwame Kilpatrick is a fool with a big ego. We’ve known it all along but a judge let him know that his antics, you know not obeying the rules and things like that, are worthy of jail time. It’s only one day. But somehow we know that this brother will continue to take down everyone who surrounds him.

His mother, Representative Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick, continues to support her son’s shenanigans and it almost cost her the primary. But she squeaked by by a mere 1,700 votes. In this article in the Detriot Free Press a constituent has the nerve to say “the family has established a brand. I don’t know about you but I don’t want to buy what they’re selling.

And there’s Christine Beatty, the sister unfortunate enough to have gotten herself mixed up in this text messaging scandal. Some of their correspondence has already been released but apparently there are more but a judge doesn’t want the press to release them just yet. Both Beatty and Kilpatrick have waived their right to a preliminary hearing and are going straight to trial.

Seriously, I wonder what this woman is thinking. Kwame is definitely a loose cannon with delusions of importance. But maybe it would be best for both of them to look at the outcome of the Sharpe James trial. The former mayor of Newark got 27 months. And Tamika Riley, James’ co-defendant got 15months. I bet you James appeals and gets a lighter sentence and the sister serves the whole term. So Christine, I hope you have a plan. If I were you I’d cut a deal, or something, because this dude, the man who is still the Mayor of Motor City, thinks he is untouchable and you will be collatoral damage.

Whoa Whoa Whoa, let’s not let Christine off the hook so easily. Legally, as it relates to the whole text message scandal, she was just as out of line with the law as he was. Morally, they both are about as low as you can go. As I’m sure you know, Kwame grew up with Christine’s husband, and Christine and Kwame’s wife are sorority sisters and good friends (at least… they once were). All we need now is for Kwame’s wife to get together with Christine’s husband and we’re officially in ‘Days of Our Lives’ terrority…

Jermaine, oh I am not letting her off the hook. Plus I didn’t know the details of their sordid relationship. That’s a shame. I agree that they are both at fault however, when women are caught up in these kinds of scandals they often don’t have the resources that the so called powerful man does. And we know about the sisters who went to jail doing favors for their man. Drug deals, real estate fraud, lying under oath and other kinds of crimes.
Overall, the sisters usually get less than adequate legal advice. I am wondering if in the back of her mind Christine believes that Kwame can take care of everything. That is delusional and I really hope that this woman is thinking about herself and how she can recover. She needs some kind of plan of action.

I don’t think it would be *ahem* safe for Christine to cut a deal. She may need to take the charge like a champ.

Operating above the law when you’re the law doesn’t cut it. Unfortunately sometimes when our folks get in the public eye, and the rules change, and the club bouncers let you to the front of the line, and the groceries flow regularly, and the bills get paid on time and cellphone bills with texting service is being paid by others and red rope is raised in every aspect of your life. WE forget that we’re still black and start getting sloppy with ours like the game done changed. We have to stop raising the red rope… for STUPID BEHAVIOR and letting folks off the hook when they know they’re wrong. Kwame is an attorney… Like you would tell the brother down the hall, the first thing you say is “Come on BRUH… be smart with yours!” And if Christine was a fried you’d say… “Come on Sistagurlll… He’s fine and well connected, but you know what’s up!!!” What kind of deal is she going to cut? She was taking it like a champ when they were sneaking around. Now she should take it like a chump and pick her face up off the floor because “BRUH” might turn the tables to save his neck. And he already wore a state issued jumpsuit that isn’t as tailored as those custom suits we loved him in.

I would be the first to say I love me some Kwame and Christine if they were out there scooping out some soup and passing out some groceries but come on… Put the valuables in the plastic bag on the counter and remove your shoelaces… it just might be time for you to be issued a jumpsuit too. DANG!

Okay Caprice I do have to agree with you. Your points are all valid. But still I say that sisters often get the short end of the stick in the situation. But they did make that choice. I wish Christine hadn’t gotten caught up in the hype.

This just in, the oldest African American paper in Michigan wants Kwame out. Here’s the link: http://www.michronicleonline.com/articlelive/articles/3010/1/NO-MORE/Page1.html
