For months, rumors have persisted that singer/actress Jennifer Hudson and her fiancé David Otunga are expecting their first child. (Speculation got even more fierce when she cancelled a few concert dates due to a mysterious ailment.) Today, The Chicago Tribune reports that friends and family gathered for a secret baby shower this weekend. So says JHud’s friend Felicia Field. But why is Field talking to the press anyway? Kind of odd is JHud is her girl don’t you think? But when you’re famous who’s really your friend anyway? Oh yeah, that’s not the point of this point.
Well only time will tell when it comes to this persistent (probably true) rumor. This sister has endured immeasurable heartbreak as a result of the murders of her mother, brother and nephew at the hands of her brother-in-law (allegedly goes somewhere in there). And it can’t be easy to define a ‘new normal’ while simultaneously living your life in the public eye. But JHud does so with such dignity and grace.
The bottom line is a new child in the Hudson family would be a blessing (and also a signal that the circle of life continues). As her possible pregnancy becomes a sure thing in the months to come I do hope that the end result is a healthy, happy child for the expectant parents. JHud deserves some joy.
