Can we get spring please? I don’t know about you, but I love the sun. For many reasons. I love the energy it gives off…and I love the way it dries my hair. This rain is killing me. Not for the frizz, (I’m blessed to be a hairstylist and I know how to conquer frizz) but because I like my hair better when the heat from the sun naturally dries my hair. But for those of you who have to combat the frizz…. I’m here for you.
You will learn that I am not a product junky, I just believe there are certain products that truly do help certain situations. For us natural, semi natural or “lots of texture” ladies, it may be a good day to spray your hair wet instead of washing and going during these rainy days. Dampen your hair to get it fairly moist (not dripping) and put the leave-in conditioner in your hair. Use a generous amount since you don’t have the sun to dry your hair quickly. My recommendation would be Mixed Chicks (www.mixedchicks.net) leave-in conditioner. Take a generous amount of the leave-in and mix with water into a spray bottle. Spray your hair so that it gets really moist, but not dripping. Your hair won’t need the same amount of heat to naturally dry if you just get your hair fairly moist with this mixture. Diffuse your hair for about three min at the root and then let your hair continue to dry naturally.
For those of you with straight or relaxed hair that tends to swell a wee bit because of the rain. My suggestion to you would be to pick up a bottle of Straight Hairspray from the Paul Labrecque Salon and Spa (www.paullabrecque.com). Use the spray prior to flat ironing each section to seal in the product and seal your hair shaft. This may be a day you want to add some texture to your hair. Try a wavy or curly style.
Always work with the weather and your hair texture. Try not to fight what your hair does during these rainy days. Enhance whatever the weather will do despite your resistance.
