In the fifth week of competition. “Dancing With The Stars” upped the ante with the first ever dance marathon and a double elimination. Mya and Dmitry performed the jitterbug.

Last week they were told that their Argentine tango was strong on technique, but lacking in emotion. For their jitterbug, they used some improv to charm the crowd. Dmitry coaxed a shy Mya to join him for a dance, and once she got started there was no stopping her. The judges’ reactions, however, were only lukewarm. While Bruno praised their timing, Carrie and Len wanted a performance that was heavy on dance and light on gimmicks. The pair received a score of 24, and ended up in second place on the leaderboard.

TV actress Melissa Joan Hart and snowboarder Louie Vito were sent home, which means Team D-Mya is safe for another week. But with another double elimination next week, Mya’s toughest challenges in the competition are just beginning.
