Talk about a throwback our girl Jennifer Hudson is taking a cue from the likes of classic crooners like Bing Cosby and Nat King Cole and doing her own Christmas special on ABC. I am not sure exactly when it is going to air but it will probably be slated somewhere between “Frosty the Snowman”, “A Very Charlie Brown Christmas” and “Rudolph The Red-nosed Reindeer”.
I’m only joking that JHud will be doing things like Bing and Nat, truthfully the title of the show is what really reminds me of Bing Crosby. She’s calling it “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” (a song Crosby made famous back in the 1940s leading a whole host of others to record it too). Actually, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the most lauded “American Idol” alum will actually be reliving some of her childhood memories in the Windy City. At least some of the show will be on location with the new mom visiting such places as her church and the place she studied music.
Okay so you know what that means right? This will be at least a 3 hanky hour. Given the tragic events that Hudson and her family have faced with the murders of their nearest and dearest, I know I’m going to get all choked up (and I’m sure many of you will too). But I’ll probably also cry because the show will also be a testament to faith, love and the triumph of the human spirit. If you ask me, this special will elevate JHud to yet another level. I suspect we’ve only begun to see what she can do.
