We all know that Rick James led a tumultuous life (drug addiction, jail time, lawsuits and bizarre antics) but there is no denying the impact this man had on the musical scene. James made us love his dance music “Super Freak” and “Give It To Me Baby” as well as ballads “Fire & Desire” (with Teena Marie) while we also worried about his behavior. His two disc compilation, Anthology ($20.92)—originally released in 2002—is being rereleased today. Add this to your collection if you want some original funk.
