Sisters are certainly doing there talk show things these day. Wendy Williams and Mo’Nique have joined the ranks of the already successful juggernauts otherwise known as Tyra Banks and the Queen, Oprah Winfrey. These sisters have our attention during the week but now we also have a weekend option too. Wanda Sykes debuts her new show this weekend on Fox in the time slot that used to be held by “Mad TV’ (EST). Translation: she’s up against the now hot again stalworth, “Saturday Night Live”. On the day before Mother’s Day, Wanda Sykes was taking no prisoners at The White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington, DC. But truthfully, she had every reason to be home instead of making mincemeat out of Rush Limbaugh. Sykes’ publicist announced yesterday that the comic and her wife Alex, as the proud parents of twins Olivia Lou and Lucas Claude who were born April 27th. Congratulations Wanda! Read the full story

Wanda Sykes’ presence is almost ubiquitous. She always seems to be the sassy sidekick in every random movie or television show. Her run as Barb on Julia Louis Dreyfeus’ New Adventures of Old Christine is actually quite successful. But lest we forget, there’s always Pootie Tang. But Sykes is taking that ‘take no prisoners’ candor she usually applies to her stand-up act and bringing it on strong in her real life. What spurred her on? The passage of Proposition 8 in California. Yesterday, to the surprise of many, she appeared at a gay rights rally ( fresh from her stint at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino) to express her outrage at the bill banning gay marriage.
