When we think of Jill Scott, most of us probably think about the soulful tunes she belts out that make us want to cuddle up with someone special. But the love between Jill and her former record label has definitely been lost. The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Hidden Beach Records has filed suit against Scott for skipping out halfway through their six album deal and they are not happy. I don’t know about you, but once I heard that Jill Scott was set to bring Alexander McCall Smith’s delightful and woefully underestimated Precious Ramatoswe, proprietor of the No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency, to the screen I couldn’t wait to see it. Folks in the UK got to see a sneak peek of the series and its “traditionally built” heroine last year and frankly I was jealous. After I read that, I kept badgering my friends over at HBO about when it would make its way to these shores. Read the full story

Jill Scott continues to amaze me with her versatility. I’m already impressed with her as a consummate performer (who can get even the most staid crowd on their feet) but now she is showing off some other talents. First, she is showing off her curves (well, sort of) as one of five celebrities to pose au naturel in Allure in the May issue. She is making a bold statement about how comfortable she is in her own skin. Literally.
