Last night Mya placed runner up on this season’s “Dancing With The Stars”, as Donny Osmond won the competition. But as a frontrunner since the first round, Mya and her partner Dmitry Chaplin set the standard of excellence for the season.
On Monday night. Mya’s paso doble kicked off the final night of competition with a perfect 30. Next up was the Mega Mix group dance, a chance for the stars to perform identical choreography side by side. Mya won the challenge with her sexy Latin moves and stellar technique. For her freestyle, Mya wanted to bring something fresh to her final performance of the night. The couple performed a fantastic Hairspray routine that was just as vibrant as their costumes. However. the judges expected something more spectacular, and felt the performance didn’t showcase her ability. Mya ended the night with 87 out of 90. Read the full story

I’ve been following Mya on Twitter since the beginning of her journey on “Dancing With The Stars”. Last week she tweeted that the Argentine tango was the hardest dance of the competition so far. I haven’t seen the lambada since my Grandma attempted it in the 80s at a family party in Queens. Well, Mya and Dmitry’s was nothing like my Grandma’s. The two got overwhelming praise from the judges, Their score of 28 secured their spot at the top of the leaderboard and eased them into the next week of competition. Pop star Aaron Carter and model Joanna Krupa also performed the lambada. But out of the three, Mya was the only star to earn two perfect tens from Carrie Ann and Bruno. Read the full story

This week Mya and Dmitry transformed the ballroom into a lovers’ den with a seductive rumba, scoring the first 10s of the season. Does Mya have the makings of a comeback kid? The R&B singer whose fame seemed to have peaked in the late ‘90s joins the latest cast of “Dancing With The Stars”. This season is a hodgepodge ensemble that should be nothing but entertaining. When I think of ballroom, Tom Delay in sequins and Macy Gray fox trotting across the stage don’t immediately come to mind.
