There’s no doubt that many of us will tune into the youngest Jackson’s sister interview with Robin Roberts tonight on ABC. Janet Jackson is not as outspoken as some of her other siblings, like say LaToya and Jermaine, so we’re all curious about what she has to say about her brother Michael. Janet holds a special place in our hearts since we’ve loved her since she was Penny on “Good Times”. But the release of first compilation album in fourteen years, Numbers Ones, reminds us just how much her music has helped shape our lives. I can’t remember the last time I listened to “Miss You Much”, “When I Think of You” or “Black Cat”, I’m looking forward to getting acquainted with her hits again. How about you?

After Michael Jackson’s tragic death rumors abound that there were a few projects featuring his nearest and dearest in the works. One of them, a reality show, revoloved around Joe, Katherine and the entire Jackson clan, while the other was an A&E documentary which was supposed to chronicle the rest of the Jackson brother’s as they prepared for their reunion tour. (They wanted to do it for their 40th anniversary later this year). Both were supposedly already shot. Well it should come as no surprise that A&E has decided to turn its documentary into a full-fledged series. The Los Angeles Times reports that the documentary footage will serve as the pilot episode. Because there has been so much MJ coverage literally everywhere, I have purposely kept my posts to a minimum—preferring to tweet news rather than dedicating a lot of space to things like murder plots. But I have got to say Papa Joe Jackson is making it quite hard for me to stay quiet any longer. What are we going to do with this man? (Not like we can really do anything but you know what I mean). Today, nearly 1400 items once owned by the King of Pop will be auctioned off over 3 days on display for fans to enjoy. These are the things that Michael Jackson left behind when he left fled the country after being acquitted of child molestation charges in 2005. Since his Neverland Ranch was the alleged scene of the crime, the paradise Jackson built for himself lost its allure (that’s bound to happen when cops go through your place with a fine tooth comb). Although he all but abandoned Neverland he couldn’t run away from the bills associated with his lifestyle —which continued in his absence. (Even though Colony Capital swooped last year to keep him from losing the property). Read the full story

Okay, it looks like the Broadway machine has officially jumped the shark. It is bad enough that revivals have become de riguer these days. If it isn’t that they’re adapting a hit movie into a stage play. But folks are shelling out $100 plus a ticket to see The Little Mermaid, Shrek and Mary Poppins. Now the Nederlander Organization, a big Broadway outfit, has acquired the rights to Michael Jackson’s Thriller, and will produce a musical based upon the once groundbreaking music and video. I don’t know if Michael Jackson is delusional or he is some sort of secret con artist. We already know that he left his poor (yes, literally) brothers high and dry when he nixed being a part of a reunion tour. Now comes the news that Michael is being sued by Sheik Abdulla Al-Khalifa for about $7 million. Remember when Michael fled to Bahrain after his child abuse trial? Al-Khalifa, the second son of the king of Bahrain, offered to help him out. Turns out that it was Jermaine who introduced the two. (Poor Jermaine will probably get blamed for this debacle too). Jermaine Jackson was so sure that he and his brothers (including Michael) were going to reunite next year for a tour that he announced it to some reporters in Australia. I guess he should have checked with Michael first because he has no intentions of either recording or touring with Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon and Randy next year or anytime thereafter. This other part of the statement he released Thursday also mentioned his plans to record his own project. I know, we’ve heard this from MJ before but he hasn’t done anything new since 2001 (the Thriller anniversary doesn’t count). Read the full story

Finally, there’s something uplifting for people in the Motor City after the spectre of Kwame Kilpatrick. Detroit’s Historical Museum is working with Universal and Berry Gordy to celebrate the golden anniversary of this historic label in a big way according to the Detroit Free Press. Save your duckets because Universal is about to release the mother of all compilations in a couple of months. “Motown: The Complete #1s” will contain 191 tracks on 10 discs (not exactly easily downloadable from ITunes).
