Can “The Game” Be Saved?

It seems like black folks no longer fit in on the network that is home to “Gossip Girls,” “One Tree Hill” and the revamped “90210.” In case you didn’t know it the two remaining comedies that feature folks that look like us, “Everybody Loves Chris” and “The Game,” are still on but have been relegated to Friday nights, when you probably aren’t even home. But the network has no plans to renew the shows. The reasons: comedies are no longer their thing. My take: they really have found success with shows featured the young, white and dramtically oversexed. Read the full story

Should We Be Excited About Making Friends With Black People?

I don’t know about you but I am not the least bit excited by NBC’s announcement that Nick Adams’ book “Making Friends With Black People” will be made into a sitcom. Race has been the one and only topic of discussion throughout the election cycle and now it will continue in a Hollywood-ized manner with shows like this. (Oh, and I expect that they’ll be plenty of others following suit with similar ideas.) Read the full story
