You’d think that disgraced former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick would keep a low profile for a little while after he got out of jail. (Christine Beatty sure has.) But that’s not going to happen. Instead, this brother continues to use faulty reasoning to explain his bad behavior. Here’s a hint: Kwame, so far it hasn’t work. In the wee hours this morning, Christine Beatty, dethroned Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick’s former chief of staff and paramour, was released from jail. She didn’t have a five car caravan like Kwame did, instead her pastor gave her a ride home in his Chrysler Town Car. So besides the pastor, who was there to meet her after Beatty served 70 days in jail besides her family? Don’t expect me to say Kwame Kilpatrick. But a couple of other members of his family were allegedly there: sister Ayana Kilpatrick and cousin Ajene Evans.  Read the full story

Disgraced and dethroned former Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick emerged from a Wayne County Jail in the wee hours of the morning today after serving 99 days there. Like other people of note, he stopped just short of serving the entire 120 day sentence. I told you all that Christine Beatty was taking a gamble when she decided to take her chances rather than negotiating an initial deal in the text-messaging scandal involving dethroned mayor Kwame Kilpatrick. Well today, Judge Timothy Kenny, sentenced her to 120 days. Get this, although everyone knows that Kilpatrick and Beatty were getting busy, Kenny says that this was not a Monica Lewinsky-type case of sexual misconduct. Instead it was “more about the careers of police officers who were ruined by the lying of Beatty and then-Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick about their relationship in a 2007 whistle-blower trial.” Read the full story

There is no doubt that 2008 was the year of President-Elect Barack Obama (and Future FLOTUS Michelle Obama too). (Or should I say Obamarama as the folks over at the late, great site Sterohyped used to say.) Just when we thought the Kwame Kilpatrick Detroit mess was behind us comes word that his co-defendent Christine Beatty turned down the deal offered to her today. It’s official, Kwame Kilpatrick is a fool with a big ego. We’ve known it all along but a judge let him know that his antics, you know not obeying the rules and things like that, are worthy of jail time. It’s only one day.
