Besides being Kanye West’s girl, I’m not sure what Amber Rose’s claim to fame really is…. However, I’ve got to say that this sister knows how to make an entrance. Her solo appearance at “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” put on by The Cinema Society and D&G certainly didn’t go unnoticed. Her bright red one-shouldered mini is the perfect counterpoint to her hair and skin (and even her tattoo looks good).

I am drained from the past 72 hours of straight up DRAMA. As far as I’m concerned we can close the case on Kanyegate. It has come full circle so we can move on (and after his contrite appearance on “Jay Leno” hope he really takes time to get himself together). But I have got to say that I am still recovering from the emotional rollercoaster ride that shall forever be known as the Come Through of Whitney Houston. If there is one good thing that came out of that time suck known as the BET Award is that more mature artists can certainly show up the young folks when it comes to singing. Anyway, that’s why I am so excited to share that Dame Shirley Bassey (yes a sister is a Dame—just like noted actresses Helen Mirren and Judi Dench) has just inked a new record deal. Her new project will be out as early as this fall. And like Tina Turner (who is a little younger) this lady has still got that sexy, sultry sound that made her one of the biggest selling artists in the UK of all time. Who knew? When Kanye West was on “The View” last week, he mentioned two genres of music we’d never associate him with: Broadway show tunes and country. He even a few bars of “Heartless” as if it were a country song (twang and all). For most of us, that is the extent to which we think about our folks and country music (besides the fact that Dolly Parton sang “I Will Always Love You” before Whitney). There is of course, one notable exception: Darius Rucker (of Hootie & The Blowfish fame) is having a fair amount of success as a solo country artist these days.
