I must admit that beyond their campy premise, “The Spice Girls” were never really on my radar—especially Mel B. But then Melanie Brown got involved, albeit briefly, with Eddie Murphy. We all know what happened….the pregnancy, the denial, and then the truth (yes Mr. Murphy is the dad). Anyway, the way this lady continues to keep it moving makes me realize that she is more than one of those campy girls who all had the name “Spice”.

We already know that Hollywood is good at recycling ideas and sometimes that’s a good thing. But other times, a bad remake can have you shaking your head in disbelief. Here’s a list of remakes that worked and other that didn’t translate the formula so well the second time around.

It comes as no surprise that Meet Dave tanked in its opening weekend. As of Saturday it had made a paltry $5 million. This is not a movie I want to see. However, as I watch the trailer and see the underutilized Gabrielle Union wasting her talent in this thing that passes for entertainment I wonder why all these beautiful black actresses continue to star opposite this man in one crappy film after another.
