I saw “The Book of Eli” over the weekend and there’s no doubt that Denzel Washington and The Hughes brothers have collaborated to create a story that will have you thinking long after you leave the theater. It’s richly layered with a underlying themes of faith and hope. However, I’m not going to give too much of the story away because any spoilers to this story may very well ruin it for you. Only three more days until Denzel Washington’s post-Apocalyptic flicks, “The Book of Eli” opens at a theater near you. The Hughes brothers, who directed the film, have my man looking all scruffy as he travels across the country protecting a book that holds the secret to saving the world. This movie was made a little over a decade ago to give us our own spin on Christmas (how else can you explain the character’s name Ebonita). Sure it’s a made for television movie, but it is doesn’t reach that “It’s A Wonderful Life” status any more than “A Diva’s Christmas Carol,” which starred singer/actress Vanessa Williams just three years later. Any of course, her name was Ebony. Read the full story

Will Smith’s latest action flick is another certified hit, grossing over $100 million in its first five days of release. It is certainly good (although I wouldn’t say it’s great) but there is one thing that has bugged me more and more since I’ve seen the movie. (Okay, if you haven’t seen the movie and like surprises please stop reading now *Major Spoiler Alert).
