Like “I Love Lucy”, the HBCU-centered “A Different World” is playing in rotation everyday somewhere in syndication and cable heaven. It’s hard to believe that it’s been 16 years since Whitley, Dwayne and company signed of for good. Although we’re still clinging to the past Jasmine Guy keeps it moving. Yesterday she hit up the Thurgood Marshall College 22nd Anniversary Dinner (after completing a couple of episodes of “The Vampire Diaries” as ahem  Grams).

Doesn’t it seem like forever seen you’ve laid eyes on Salli Richardson-Whitfield (or her hubby). Turns out that she’s been hiding over on the Sy Fy network for the three years on a show called “Eureka”. Who knew? Anyway, Salli is on the show in good company in the person of Joe Morton. You know the mute alien in “The Brother From Another Planet” or Byron the fine brother Whitley Gilbert left at the altar on “A Different World”. Check them out because the show premieres tomorrow. I find it hard to believe that the girl we knew as Denise Huxtable will turn 41 next month. Since she’s largely been off the scene for the past decade or so, we’ve mostly had reruns of The Cosby Show and A Different World to remind us of her existence. (And perhaps all those paparazzi shots of her daughter Zoe out-and-about alone or with her Dad, Lenny Kravitz make us “wonder what Lisa is doing now?’). Read the full story
