I learned the merits of good shapewear as a by-product of working at MODE a few years back. Since then I’ve been as conscious of my innerwear as I have the rest of my wardrobe. After my trip to Blogalicious in October, I officially have a thing for Yummie Tummie—the shapewear developed by Heather Thomson. Now here’s the full disclosure: I got my Lacie and my Undercover Yummie courtesy of the company and The Clever Girls Collective. But let’s just say that I should be paying them for the privilege of keeping my gut in check without any discomfort.

Every now and then I like to highlight someone who always seems to take it to the next level. Someone who doesn’t seem to try very hard, but always stands out. This time that someone is actress, Ms. Zoë Saldana. She has a keen sense of fashion; I’d like to call it sexy with a dash of modesty. If you’re over a size 14, then you know how hard it is to find stylish clothing at an affordable prices. Why so many designers and retailers think that all plus-size women want to wear frumpy flower-covered polyester separates, I don’t know. The few stores that carry plus sizes relegate the department to the back corner as if they are ashamed of catering to a bigger clientele.
