***CONTEST*** Yummie Tummie Giveaway

Tags: , , ,

yummie-tummie

I learned the merits of good shapewear as a by-product of working at MODE a few years back. Since then I’ve been as conscious of my innerwear as I have the rest of my wardrobe. After my trip to Blogalicious in October, I officially have a thing for Yummie Tummie—the shapewear developed by Heather Thomson. Now here’s the full disclosure: I got my Lacie and my Undercover Yummie courtesy of the company and The Clever Girls Collective. But let’s just say that I should be paying them for the privilege of keeping my gut in check without any discomfort.

Every now and then I like to highlight someone who always seems to take it to the next level. Someone who doesn’t seem to try very hard, but always stands out. I’ve been the biggest fan of hers since she stepped on the scene as Eva Rodriguez in the 2000 dance flick “Center Stage.” Saldana has become a versatile actor, and she not only shows it in her talent but in her wardrobe. Tags: , , ,

black-couple-marriage

Maybe making someone move when he has been in the “I’m not sure I can commit” zone too long is not such a bad thing. Here’s the catch though, I don’t think most of us prepare for the answers we don’t want to hear. We think putting a foot down will make him move faster, meet our demands, and somehow the real “love” magic will begin. Yeah right. The one thing ultimatums really do is force us to do what we should have done a long time ago; be true to what we really say we want. Read the full story

Chris Rock’s new documentary, “Good Hair,” finally hit theatres nationwide last weekend, so black women across the country are undoubtedly still discussing the politics of hair. I’ve experienced more than 20 years of hair reinventions, from the 14-inch, layered partial weave I sport today to the two big country plaits my Liberian mother braided into my hair when I was in elementary school. On other occasions, my cousin would make square parts all over my head and make single braids out of my very short, very coarse hair. You probably would’ve mistook me for one of Coolio’s children back then, but my childhood hairstyles never became the source of hot-button debate—my hair was never political. But for 4-year-old Zahara Jolie-Pitt, the adopted daughter of Brad and Angelina, her hair has become as political as the debate over healthcare. Read the full story

Okay people, if you never were a fan of sitting out in the sun here’s some news that may make you reconsider. It seems that many of us have a lack of Vitamin D.
